(My first roleplaying experience so I'd appreciate any input on how to make this better)

Full Name: Moridin Tedronai

Gender: Male

Race: Human

Age: 29

Homeland: Dorwinion (Rhûn)

Personality: He is particularly fatalistic. He believes that eventually the world is destined to fall to the Shadow, and thus the only rational thing to do is fight for it and gain glory in the eventual world order.
He is cruel, often needlessly so. He takes pleasure in inflicting psychological pain on others
He is very proud and arrogant.
He enjoys strategy and scheming. He will respect an opponent if they manage to outsmart him, but will also hate them deeply for it.
He looks down on those who fight for glory, and prefers to use more shadowy means to accomplish his goals.

Appearance: He is tall, broad-shouldered with black hair and deep blue eyes.

History: He was born to a single mother. His father died three months before he was born, in a sparring accident. His mother brought him up with tales of his ancestors, the Balchoth. He also learned the way of the sword from his uncle, his mother's brother. When he was 17, all his remaining family was killed by an accident. He killed the architect he felt was responsible, and had to leave his hometown before the guards could arrest him. Since then, he has been wandering across Middle-Earth. He now runs a small but elite band of mercenaries that care not about ideals, but about coin.

Weapons: He has his uncle's sword, which is a large claymore with an intricate script running along it. It is in a language that he has not yet learnt, but a scholar he asked turned pale and refused to answer his questions about it, even on pain of death (which he was then given). His uncle never told him what it was called, but he has chosen to call it Callandor after an old lullaby his mother sang to him.

He also has a longbow that he stole off a ranger he killed during his journeys in the North.

Strengths: He is an exceptionally skilled swordsmaster. His uncle taught him a great deal from an early age, and he has learned through experience and constant battle since.

He is very intelligent, and able to outthink most opponents. He is a very good strategist and planner.

He has quite a silver tongue. He is good at persuading people (one more reason why the above mentioned scholar's refusal infuriated him) and swaying men to his ideas. He is an excellent manipulator.

He rarely underestimates anyone. While he is quite proud and arrogant, he is also smart enough (and has been outsmarted enough times) to know that there are bigger fish in the sea than him.

Weaknesses: He tends to over-think situations. He has often faced defeat simply because he assumed an enemy would be more intelligent than they actually were.

He is not very good at going unnoticed. In a crowd, it would be easy to pick him out, and he is not very good at deflecting suspicion. While he is decent at stealth and sneaking around, he would not be able to lose pursuers in a public area.

He has a very fatalistic attitude, and will often fight more defensively or retreat even when there is a chance for victory. His penchant for relying on overwhelming odds to win victories means that he is far more defensive and cautious than he needs to be.

Items: He has a minor ring of power that he looted from a small Dwarven settlement. It grants him a sizable increase in speed and strength. He wears it on a necklace, instead of on his finger, as he does not wish to come to rely on it. He keeps it close, however, and is known to don it if a fight is going badly (though at such times he is likelier to retreat) or if he wishes to make an impression.

He has a set of light armour that he took from the leader of a band of Elves that he ambushed and killed. It is enchanted to provide minimal encumbrance to the wearer and provides extra protection against damage from weapons like axes and spears.

Other: He hates the Rohirrim with a passion for wiping out his ancestors (his mother is a descendant of a surviving member of the Balchoth).

He is the leader of a small but elite band of mercenaries that is infamous for being very difficult to fight and good at infiltrating secure locations. There is a bounty on his head in Rohan, because he tends to attack and murder Rohirrim patrols and caravans, and in Gondor, because he once assassinated an important member of their Guard.

(note: the assassinations and infiltrations are because he has specifically recruited mercenaries who are skilled at these tasks, as noted above, he is not very skilled at these particular aspects himself. He is wanted more for being the leader of the band of mercenaries responsible.)

Feel free to post two minor characters from your mercenary band that you would like to run as NPCs along side your main. (If you so choose)
